The book is published in conjunction with Paludan\u2019s exhibition <em>I am your Body: Chapter 1 \u2013 Automation<\/em> at Kunsthal Aarhus, which runs until 12 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the evening, Head of Art &amp; Research at AHC, Lars Bang Larsen will introduce the book and the overarching themes and framework of Michala\u2019s research as part of AHC Micro Institute. Later, Michala will elaborate on the project in dialogue with curator at Kunsthal Aarhus, Seolhui Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book will be available for purchase from Disko Bay during the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>~<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday 23 October, 7.30-9.30PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AHC, Halmtorvet 27, 1700 Copenhagen V<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please register by sending an email to rsvp@arthubcopenhagen.dk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>~<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABOUT MICHALA PALUDAN<br>Michala Paludan (b. 1983) is a Danish artist living and working in Copenhagen. Paludan is a fellow of the Whitney Independent Study Program (2012) and received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts (2011). She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 2005 to 2009. During the past decade, Paludan has framed how power is produced and negotiated across networks and movements, through media such as video, photography and installation. Paludan has exhibited widely in Scandinavia and abroad. Recent exhibitions include:&nbsp;<em>I am Your Body: Automation<\/em>&nbsp;at Kunsthal Aarhus, Aarhus,&nbsp;<em>Open Shut Them<\/em>&nbsp;at C.C.C. Gallery, Copenhagen and&nbsp;<em>Our Work<\/em>&nbsp;at Lunds Konsthall, Lund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Michala Paludan is a part of AHC\u2019s program Micro Institute, an alternative format for practice-based research with an emphasis on process, collaboration, and the development of method. Please read more below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABOUT MICRO INSTITUTE<br>The Micro Institute is a unique format for practice-based research that consists of a two-year research residency for an artist or a curator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Micro Institute is based on the assumption that the artistic process creates an excess or surplus of aesthetic experience through a multifarious working through of knowledge, language, and materials, often in collaboration with others, including researchers, specialists, communities, and audiences. But not all the elements of this process are used in, or wholly represented by, the final form of the work and the artist\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outcome of Michala Paludan\u2019s Micro Institute includes the solo exhibition at Kunsthal Aarhus, as well as the book The Unposed (EoAT) published by Disko Bay. Additionally, Michala will convene discursive events with scholars and practice-based thinkers as part of the research process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABOUT SEOLHUI LEE<br>Seolhui Lee (b. 1987, South Korea. Based in Denmark) is a curator at Kunsthal Aarhus (2023\u2013) and the artistic director for the Korean Pavilion 2024, Venice Biennale with Jacob Fabricius. She previously served as the head of the exhibition team for the Busan Biennale 2020, a curator at the Seoul Museum of Art (2018\u20132019), and worked for the&nbsp;<em>Korea Artist Prize 2012<\/em>&nbsp;at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, South Korea (2012\u20132013). Lee has curated multitudinous exhibitions in many countries \u2013 South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Romania, and Italy, among others. In addition, she held the position of an adjunct professor at the Korea National University of Arts (2019\u20132022) and the Kaywon University of Art &amp; Design, South Korea (2022\u20132023). In conjunction with her studies, Lee\u2019s essays have been published in&nbsp;<em>Korean Contemporary Art Since 1990<\/em>&nbsp;(2017) and&nbsp;<em>Reading Korean Contemporary Art with Keywords<\/em>&nbsp;(2019).
