Art + Architecture : Healing Art and Architecture : Guided bus tour to Herlev Hospital

Join a bus tour to Herlev Hospital, where art and architecture merge iconically and learn about hospital art today.

Together with our office partners Copenhagen Architecture Festival, we are organising a bus trip to the brutalist welfare icon Herlev Hospital. We will visit Poul Gernes' colourful artwork, which is iconic for hospital art, controversial for health reasons and aesthetics, and considered a cultural heritage, where art and architecture are intertwined in a unique ensemble. The work contains many interesting discussions about preservation, maintenance, change, health, etc. We also talk about a contemporary example of the interaction between art and architecture, and how artists can approach health-promoting hospital art today in Holstebro's new health centre.

Participants: architect and lecturer emeritus Sven Felding, who has researched and prepared a conservation guide for Herlev Hospital. Visual artist Pernille With Madsen, who has created art for a new health centre in Holstebro.
