VALA T. FOLTYN: BLESSED BE THE WITCH_ES
In the search for possible utopias where we stand, Margarita goes through the city with a handheld camera, looking for cracks and fractures where the possibility of opening the spaces of everyday life might be. Departing from her joint research on city planning from below, and looking at the city from a child’s perspective, the filming process turns her to look at the city as a whole machinery, where possible spaces and gestures could create the chance to generate other modes of production of space – As space is always shared, what kind of city are we making?
A Restless Gesture has the format of a collage, where many perspectives are merged in play. During the process, the social uprising lived in Chile during 2019-2020 reappears as ghosts with messages from afar. Squares and streets occupied by social rage, chant, and solidarity. The cracks and fractures expand. Public watches keep turning time around, while children play between construction sites and the delirium of the capital moves around.
MARGARITA DEL CARMEN: A RESTLESS GESTURE
A performance act by Vala T. Foltyn and Maja Chiara Faber is an experiential portal for the community of the ghosts, witches, and vampires. As a queer witch Foltyn choreographes rituals as reanactments of the difficult pasts in the search for queer futures. Thinking with Belgian anthropologist Vinciane Despret, she creates a non-hostile environment for the dead and invites those who are alive to walk in between the realms, opening and speaking with the archives. For this occasion, Foltyn invited a fellow artist witch Maja Chiara Faber, who together with Foltyn co-hosted many events at Lamella the queer house in Kraków and is known for her sound exorcisms and queer tarot readings. A former home of Vala T. Foltyn – a century old historical villa in Kraków and a refuge for queer community will be relocated again to unfold its intimate stories, scents and sounds of resistance on the site of Art Hub Copenhagen.
(CO)OPULENCE COLLECTIVE: LET IT POUR, LET IT RAIN
how can we craft economies of Care and Desire?
how can the Erotic be at the Root of such?
As part of their residency at Art Hub Copenhagen, (Co)Opulence (xiri tara noir & Sall Lam Toro) presented elements of their artistic practice in the format of an installation performance.
(Co)Opulence Collective ‘(Co)’ of Corpo, Coexistence, Collaboration, Co-thinking, Collapse and various elements of their artistic process in the format of an installation performance titled Let It Pour, Let It Rain. The work of (Co)Opulence explores parallel realities of shapeshifter pro-hoe/heaux queer/trans pleasures, and the power of eroticism as ritualistic and choreographic processes. their Practice is striving to craft economies of Care and evoke Queer Pleasures. The performance installation Let it Pour, Let it Rain is a Process-based mapping of interdimensional journeys of Intimate Radical form. A Conversation where past and futures collide in a structural rehabilitation of Desire. The performance installation seeks to offer new aesthetic languages for liberatory practices based on queering, pleasure, and anticapitalist thought, while engaging with forming Speculative Radical Spaces and Hopeful Futures.
