Liquid Exchange 2 is a process-oriented group exhibition that presents a series of experiments created in front of museum visitors in the workshop at Glas – Museum of Glass Art. Invited artists work for one week in the museum’s glass workshop, collaborating with the museum’s glassblower, Chris Lowry. The exhibition features three residencies with artists Lise Autogena & Joshua Portway (GB), Maj Kjærsig (DK), and Mire Lee (KR). Each residency will result in a series of glass experiments, which will be placed in the exhibition in collaboration between Glas and Art Hub Copenhagen (AHC).
The first artists to spend a week working with glass were Lise Autogena and Joshua Portway, who inhabited the workshop from 13–17 January 2026.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Lise Autogena & Joshua Portway (b. 1964 & 1967) are a Danish-British artist duo who since the early 1990s have worked on projects at the intersection of art, technology and climate. They are known for large-scale installations and audiovisual works that create dialog on global social and environmental issues. Their work has been exhibited at renowned institutions such as Tate Britain, ZKM in Karlsruhe and the ArtScience Museum in Singapore. Autogena is a professor at Sheffield Hallam University and the recipient of several awards, including the Danish Arts Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024 and the NESTA Fellowship in the UK.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION SERIES LIQUID EXCHANGE
The collaboration between Glas and Art Hub Copenhagen, which under the title of Liquid Exchange gives several contemporary artists, who have not previously worked with glass, the opportunity to create glass works and thus expand and develop their practice in a completely new direction.
Over four years (2024-2027) several artists will be invited to investigate glass as an artistic material and show the result in an annual exhibition. The Liquid Exchange collaboration is named after the liquid nature of glass and indicates that Glas and Art Hub Copenhagen will focus on exchange and experimentation across the two institutions during the four years.
