After four years as artistic director of AHC, Jacob Fabricius has chosen to resign from his position with effect from 1 July 2025. He initially took up the position in a dual management with Lars Bang Larsen. Since November 2022, he has been at the helm of the management of AHC together with administrative director Susanne Hviid.

It is with the desire to take new paths in his working life that Jacob Fabricius has chosen to step down. He states:

“I have been with Art Hub Copenhagen since 2021, and in that time the institution has come a long way. We have created a good foundation for artistic development and important projects for and with the artists, and it has been great to help build AHC’s relationships nationally and internationally. All institutions need fresh ideas, and that also applies to AHC, and that is why I am handing over the future and the new impressive building at Thoravej 29 to other creative visions. I have no plans myself, and that is wonderful. Then there is room for innovation and good ideas.”

Mette Kynne Frandsen, chairperson of the AHC board, states:

“Jacob Fabricius has played a central and major role in the development of AHC as an institution and organization, especially in establishing AHC as a significant platform for residencies, artistic development, production and presentation in Denmark. In addition, with his solid international network, he has been a strong driver in AHC’s engagement of a number of artists and curators in fruitful international collaborations, biennials, and exhibitions in recent years. We wish Jacob Fabricius all the best in the future and look forward to continuing to follow his good work for the arts.”

AHC will hold a farewell reception for Jacob Fabricius on Friday, June 27 at 5:00 PM at Thoravej 29, which will include a talk where he will present his recently completed postdoctoral project and accompanying book Setting the Tone of the Exhibition – The Anatomy of Exhibition Openings in conversation with curator Anna Weile Kjær. Everyone is welcome!

After the summer break, a process will be initiated to hire a new artistic director for AHC.
