Join us for the first evening of The Glossary of Wisdom and Worldmaking with Amilcar Packer, who will conduct a conversation on the Portuguese word Imaginação and the speculative capacities it activates. Through sharing thoughts, stories and flavours, Packer will unfold the potentialities of imagining. The Glossary of Wisdom and Worldmaking is an event programme where concepts, necessary for building and maintaining worlds, are chosen by artists or thinkers and interpreted into various formats. Thinking beyond the Eurocentric epistemic canon, the glossary seeks unacknowledged, idiosyncratic, fugitive, spiritual, abyssal, and secret forms of wisdom that trace different paths towards future possibilities.
The Glossary of Wisdom and Worldmaking programme is part of roda – soft water on hard stone curated by Carla Zaccagnini & Katarina Stenbeck. roda – soft water on hard stone is an invitation to engage in questions of how to inhabit the world beyond the logics of colonial and capitalist violence. The project looks at how to develop sensibilities of co-existence across human and more-than-human worlds that can guide us towards other ways of living, learning, making, and believing. roda – soft water on hard stone unfolds as three sea journeys in the opposite direction of the European colonial trade route, three sharing instances with international partners, nine art commissions, and the event programme the Glossary on Wisdom & Worldmaking.

ABOUT:
São Paulo-based Amilcar Packer works with a non-disciplinary practice informed by collaboration and research, through curatorial and editorial operations, which intervene in artistic, political and social imaginaries.
The curatorial work of Katarina Stenbeck & Carla Zaccagnini nourishes from their different backgrounds and perspectives, Stenbeck being a Danish art historian and curator and Zaccagnini being an artist and writer from Brazil. Coming together, their thinking and projects engage with resistance against capitalist and colonial destruction through practices that reimagine ways of relating, storying, and worlding.
