Open Call: Residency To Go 2024-2025

Are you a visual artist living in Denmark outside of the urban area of Copenhagen? Then you can now apply for the Residency To Go programme. Deadline for applications is Sunday 12 May at 11.59PM.

Residency To Go is not a traditional residency. It is a six-month course with a focus on artistic development, which takes place in the visual artist’s own studio. The program therefore does not include a studio space, but is for artists who want sparring and support to develop and qualify their work and network.

In addition, Residency To Go is a program dedicated to artists who live outside the urban area of Copenhagen (in Danish: Storkøbenhavn). This is because AHC is not only present locally in Copenhagen and internationally, but also works transnationally with a holistic understanding of the Danish art scene. In other words, Residency To Go aims to offer development opportunities to visual artists who live far from the capital, as well as to include a number of non-Copenhagen art institutions in the program and thus support that the Danish art scene remains geographically diverse.

Residency To Go 2024-25 runs from 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2025. A total of three visual artists will be selected, who will receive a tailored program of networking, sparring sessions with curators and mentors based in Denmark and Scania, as well as four subject-specific workshops.

The program is based on the artist’s current practice and consists of both individual conversations and joint workshops with the other artists in the program.

As part of the residency, there will be an opportunity to arrange a presentation or an Open Studio, just as an excursion to a number of selected institutions in Denmark and/or Scania will be planned.

THE PROGRAM INCLUDES:

  • Four subject-specific workshops
  • Two studio visits with curators based in Denmark/Scania
  • Two studio visits with mentors based in Denmark/Scania
  • DKK 21,000 per monthly fee
  • Possibility of holding a presentation or an Open Studio
  • Excursion to selected institutions in Denmark and/or Scania.

WHO CAN APPLY?

To be considered for Residency To Go, you must either have graduated from the Jutland Academy of Fine Arts, the Funen Academy of Fine Arts, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts or have a visual arts education from a corresponding art academy abroad. In addition, it must be clear in your application that you can make use of the development elements in the programme.

You must also have your own studio, and you must reside somewhere in Denmark outside the urban area of Copenhagen/Greater Copenhagen, which covers the municipalities of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Albertslund, Brøndby, Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Glostrup, Herlev, Hvidovre, Lyngby-Taarbæk, Rødovre and Tårnby, as well as parts of the urban areas in Ballerup, Furesø, Greve, Ishøj, Rudersdal and Vallensbæk municipalities.

NB! We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to participate in AHC’s residency programs. Therefore, it is not possible to apply if you have been part of Residency To Go or Art Hub Residency before.
