  • SPARK (Participant, researcher)

Alessandro Mereghetti, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on reconstructing past ecosystems across temporal scales, from Late Pleistocene megafaunal communities to recent forest dynamics, using multiproxy approaches that integrate pollen, sedaDNA, macrofossils, remote sensing, and quantitative ecological analyses.

He completed his PhD at the University of Maine, where he investigated megafauna–vegetation interactions in Arctic ecosystems; his current work explores ecological change in both deep-time and modern contexts, including the legacy of mass extinctions, ecological interactions, and the application of paleoecological records to contemporary conservation challenges.

Alessandro Mereghetti is taking part in the SPARK project Keystone in collaboration with theatre artist Zoe Lohmann.
