Giulia Zampirolo

Paleogeneticist

Program

Giulia Zampirolo is a paleogeneticist specialising in ancient metagenomics, with a strong interdisciplinary background spanning heritage conservation, archaeology, and paleoanthropology. Her expertise lies in integrating deep-time molecular evidence, using sedimentary ancient DNA, with environmental context to reconstruct the long-term duality of human-environment interactions. Driven by the challenge of moving scientific data beyond the lab, Giulia constantly seeks innovative ways to communicate complex environmental data using multidisciplinary approaches to create meaningful stories for the public.

Giulia Zampirolo is taking part in the SPARK project Tidal Fragments in collaboration with artists Emma Harris and Li Lindblom.
