In January 2025, AHC will relocate to Thoravej 29 in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district, where we are offering two workspaces for curators or art writers. The deadline to apply is Sunday, 20 October 2024.
AHC is dedicated to strengthening the contemporary art scene as a whole. Therefore, AHC supports and promotes not only artists, but also curators and art writers, helping them develop and position their practices.
When AHC moves to Thoravej 29 in the new year, we will offer two office spaces to curators and/or art writers who are seeking a dedicated workspace in 2025, and who are interested in being part of a community of artists and other art professionals on a daily basis.
The workspaces are 10 m2 and equipped with a table, chair and WiFi. The workspace is offered for 11 months (from mid-January to mid-December 2025). In return, we ask that you conduct a series of studio visits with our artists in residence. Additionally, you should be available to conduct interviews and write brief texts about some of AHC’s residency artists for a fee.
Move-in takes place in the second week of January 2025.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
As an applicant, you are expected to:
- spend your daily working hours at Thoravej. Any travel plans etc. should be arranged in advance.
- conduct ten studio visits over the course of the period.
- conduct interviews with four residency artists and deliver a 1,000-word text per artist for digital publication (including editing). The fee is DKK 5,000 including VAT per text.
- be well versed in familiarising yourself with the practices of diverse artists and presenting them in an engaging way.
- participate in a one-hour evaluation during the period.
- be interested in engaging with a wider community of art professionals and actors from other fields.
- consent to having your practice presented through AHC’s various platforms.

WHO CAN APPLY?
To be considered for AHC Workspace 2025, you must be a professional curator and/or art writer with documented experience in curating and/or writing about contemporary art, including conducting interviews with artists in either Danish or English.
Additionally, your application should clearly demonstrate your need for a workspace in Copenhagen and confirm that you have the time and motivation to conduct studio visits and produce texts about artistic practice.

SELECTION PROCESS
All applications will be reviewed by AHC and short interviews will also be conducted prior to final selection.
Selection will be based on the applicants’ professional qualifications and the way in which the selected artists and curators/writers complement each other as a group.

ABOUT THORAVEJ 29
Thoravej 29 is more than just the address of a newly renovated building in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district. It’s also the name of a new public meeting point and professional community for a range of organisations housed in the building.
Thoravej 29 aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and events among its members, who primarily work within the arts and social sector, in order to tackle some of today’s most pressing issues through creative solutions. Read more here.
The building at Thoravej 29 is a 1960s industrial structure, reimagined by pihlmann architects into a dynamic space featuring workshops for artistic production, studios, an exhibition venue, a public café, a black box, a main stage and office spaces. AHC oversees the management of all studios, workshops and the exhibition space and will host weekly events on the stage.
Designed with accessibility in mind, the building has step-free access and elevators at both ends of the building, ensuring access to all floors. Additionally, each floor is equipped with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms.
