In collaboration with Copenhagen Architecture Festival, Art Hub invites to a seminar, that looks at the role of art and architecture in the welfare city, including how art contributes to creating value and lifting societal tasks such as climate change, super hospitals and everyday spaces from cradle to grave.
Through historical and contemporary examples, we take a closer look at how the two art forms can inform each other, and how the collaboration and roles between artists, architects and clients are distributed. At the seminar, we dive into the common history of architecture and art, discussing what the opportunities and challenges are when artists and architects collaborate.
PROGRAM
14.00–14.10: Welcome by Copenhagen Architecture Festival and the Association of Visual Artists (BKF), and Art Hub Copenhagen.
14.15–14.30: A historical look at the role of art and architecture in the welfare state in relation to the art circular by Lotte Lederballe from the Danish Art Foundation.
14.30–14.45: Camilla Hedegaard Møller, associate professor, architect MAA, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 'Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation, about Poul Gernes' color manual for Herlev Hospital and the controversy around the rebuilding of the cardiology department.
14.45–15.00: Lone Schubert, art consultant at the Danish Art Foundation - when art is integrated into public construction today.
15.00–15.15: A Q&A session by Nis Rømer, visual artist and chairman of BKF.
15: 15–15.35: Break with coffee, cake and fruit.
15.35–15.50: Vejle's city architect, Lisbet Wolters (TBC) in conversation with sculptor and landscape architect Marie Markman, who advises on art in connection with climate adaptation in Vejle Municipality.
15.50–16.05: Erik Frandsen, partner at Lundgaard & Tranberg and Finn Reinbothe about their lifelong partnership.
16.05–16.15: Kirstine Roepstorff, visual artist.
16.15–16.25: Henrik Schødts, project director, North Zealand Hospital.
16:25: Q&A session by Nis Rømer.
