On August 7, 2021, Art Hub hosted an online lecture by the feminist theorist and quantum physicist Karen Barad in collaboration with Kunsthal Charlottenborg , introduced by artist Lea Porsager and curator and co-director at Art Hub, Lars Bang Larsen.

With their book Meeting the Universe Halfway (2007), Karen Barad created a seminal new reading of Niels Bohr’s idea of quantum physics as a challenge to Western philosophy and our ethical practices.

Barad’s proposition for a new type of materialist thinking – an ’agential realism’ in which matter and meaning are entangled – is a great inspiration for the work of Lea Porsager, and therefore this lecture was held on occasion of Porsager’s exhibition STRIPPED in the summer of 2021.

Karen Barad is Distinguished Professor of Feminist Studies, Philosophy, and History of Consciousness at the University of California in Santa Cruz.
