Barbara Amalie Skovmand is a Copenhagen-based artist working at the intersection of visual art, music, and performance.

Skovmand’s practice — materialized as sound sculptures, immersive installations, performance, and video — is rooted in transformation, exploring how we can shift states of being and expand our consciousness through presence and contact between humans, and between the human and the more-than-human. She investigates nature’s power, pursues interspecies symbioses, and nurtures a sense of belonging — staging the wondrous as an act of hope in a troubled world.

Skovmand’s après-Baschet sound sculptures are central to her performance practice — rare, hand-built sci-fi instruments. Selected exhibitions and performances include presentations at The National Gallery of Denmark (DK), Kunstpakhuset (DK), Festival of Endless Gratitude (DK), New Shelter Plan (DK), Harbinger Project Space (IS), Street Art Museum (RU), Blueproject Space (SP), and W139 (NL).

Barbara Amalie Skovmand is taking part in the SPARK project Planetary Dust Machine in collaboration with artist Sonja Strange and researcher Adrien Houge.
