Lotte Anker is a Copenhagen-based saxophonist/improviser/composer working in the field between improvisation, experimental/freeform jazz and contemporary composed music.
In recent years, she has been involved with many groups and collaborations, including Anker, Taborn, Cleaver (w/ Craig Taborn and Gerald Cleaver), What River Ensemble (w/ Phil Minton, Fred Frith, Ikue Mori, Anna Klett, Chris Cutler, Garth Knox, Jesper Egelund), Sub Habitat (w/ Mazen Kerbaj, Andrea Neumann, Sten Sandell, Katt Hernandez, Nina de Heney, Burkhard Beins), and a duo with Fred Frith.
She has presented commissions and premieres at Huddersfield Contemporary Musicfestival, Gong Tomorrow, Donaueschingen New Music Festival/SWR, Ensemble Modern, Danish Radio Orchestra, and Copenhagen Art Ensemble. In 2022, she was awarded the Danish Arts Foundation lifetime honorarium.
