Since 2019, Art Hub Copenhagen (AHC) has worked to strengthen the opportunities for artistic development, among other things, through a range of residency programmes that offer work facilities, financial support, mentoring and sparring sessions, network building and dissemination.
Now AHC and the 15. Juni Fonden are entering into a partnership that will offer a residency programme for newly graduated visual artists in Denmark, based on the 15. Juni Fonden’s Honorary Award, which the foundation’s art jury awards to three artists each year.
VISION FOR THE FIELD OF YOUNGER ARTISTS
The 15. Juni Foundation is working with the initiative 15JF Emerging Artists Programme (in Danish: UNG KUNST) to improve the framework conditions for young visual artists and thereby support talents on the Danish art scene. The initiative includes, among other things, a pool for art museums to acquire works by young artists, the development of new knowledge in the field, capacity building among institutions and organizations in the art scene, and an honorary award. The latter is given annually to three artists who have graduated from one of the country’s art academies in the same year, and it is awarded with a vision of supporting the artists at a special time in their careers: in the transition from education to professional work.
The honorary prize is DKK 50,000, and in the new partnership with AHC, the prize is expanded with a grant that includes an 11-month development and sparring course at AHC at Thoravej 29. The foundation and AHC see it as important not only to provide financial support, but to offer a more or less 360-degree facilitation of the artist’s development work with a studio, production facilities, network building opportunities, tailored mentoring program and exposure.
THIS YEAR’S GRANT RECIPIENTS
The artists who receive the foundation’s grant are selected by the foundation’s art jury, which consists of professor Mikkel Bogh from the University of Copenhagen, visual artist Tore Hallas and art critic and mediator Mai Misfeldt.
The jury has selected this year’s three grant recipients based on their graduation work from the academies. Their names will be announced on 2 October 2025 at a celebration to be held at Gammel Strand.
The three artists will move into AHC in the beginning of 2026, where they also will become part of the larger community at Thoravej 29, consisting of 30 different organizations and actors across sectors.
AHC will continue to offer the five-month Art Hub Residency programme in both the spring and autumn of 2026.

ABOUT AHC AT THORAVEJ 29
Thoravej 29 is an association, a public meeting place and a professional community for a number of organisations that are housed in the building. The vision for the place is that the members of Thoravej 29, who mainly come from either the art or social fields, will examine some of the great challenges of our time through interdisciplinary collaborations and events. The building at Thoravej 29, an industrial building from the 1960s, has been converted by pihlmann architects into a house that, in addition to office space, contains a public café, a stage and a number of production and exhibition facilities for visual and performing artists. AHC manages all studios and workshops at Thoravej 29 as well as the exhibition venue Room Room. Read more here.
ABOUT THE EVENT ON 2 OCTOBER
The 15. June Fonden will award this year’s honorary grant on 2 October 2025 at a closed event at Gammel Strand in Copenhagen. In this connection, AHC will also publish the names of the grant recipients and present their practice on AHC’s various digital platforms. At the event on 2 October, the 15. June Fonden will also present another part of their philanthropic work; a new analysis of how young visual artists experience the significance of a museum acquiring their work. The report will be published on the foundation’s website as well.
