Art + Architecture : Welfare art and architecture : Guided bus tour to Albertslund
Join artist Jakob Kolding and architect Jens Thomas Arnfred on a guided bus tour to the utopia of the welfare state "Albertslund South".
What characterises the history and everyday life of a new city? What was the good life yesterday and what is it today? What images do we have of the suburb? What are its qualities and challenges? How do we renovate iconic welfare architecture?
Take the bus out of town and down memory lane to one of the 20th century strongholds Albertslund South. A pioneering modernist new town, it was designed from scratch in the 1960s and has since housed Albertslundere from cradle to grave. Artist Jakob Kolding, who grew up in Albertslund, will tell us about the influence the place has had on his artistic work - and him personally. Architect and former partner in Vandkunsten, Jens Thomas Arnfred, will talk about the welfare village and architecture in Albertslund South, which his father helped design. Along the way, a resident will invite you into one of the characteristic courtyard houses.
Participants: Jens Thomas Arnfred, architect og Jakob Kolding, visual artist.
