Art Hub Copenhagen X Collega : Talk : Village Unhu
The exhibition space Collega and Art Hub Copenhagen have entered into a collaboration on a series of talks presenting Collega’s exhibition partners and the works of the participating artists.
On 9 May at 5 pm the third talk in the series invites Harare based Village Unhu to talk about their work. Village Unhu is an artist led platform that evolved from a grassroots initiative into an established residency space, studio space, workshop and gallery space.
Village Unhu is the co-curator of Collega’s upcoming exhibition Ugly Feelings (May 11 – August 24 2023) showing works by Epheas Maposa and local artist Nanna Starck. In the talk Village Unhu is represented by artists Georgina Maxim, Misheck Masamvu and Epheas Maposa who will be in conversation with exhibition artist Nanna Starck and curator Lotte Løvholm from Collega. The panel will unfold Village Unhu’s work in relation to the art scene in Zimbabwe and present the upcoming exhibition.
Participation is free, but we recommend securing a seat by taking out a free ticket here.
The talk will be in English.
The exhibition space Collega opens Ugly Feelings on May 11 2023 at Vesterbro in Copenhagen exploring ambigious emotionality with reference to cultural theorist Sianne Ngai. Ugly Feelings presents new works by Nanna Starck and Epheas Maposa where the grotesque and surreal intersects.
Collega focuses on co-curation as practice, and each exhibition is curated in collaboration with a collective or an institution abroad. Collega is supported by Bikuben Foundation, The Danish Arts Foundation, Beckett-Fonden, Augustinus Fonden, William Demant & Rådet for Visuel Kunst.
