ABOUT FRANZISKA HOPPE

Franziska Hoppe graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts in 2021. She is also an author and a graduate of Litterär Gestaltning in Gothenburg.

Franziska Hoppe’s work encompasses video, text and performance. Using various media, her work challenges the patriarchal history of ideas and the common agenda of science and economy, when it comes to dominance and profit maximisation.

As an author and translator, she uses literature not only as part of her practice, but also as a field in which research and critical interventions can occur.

In 2019, she made her debut with the performative text "docx" at Forlaget Korridor. Shortly afterwards, she published the booklet "Quijote! Quijote!" – an essayistic performance and meditation on the unequal conditions of the literary canon and the distorted representation of works in a particular public book collection – in this instance, the library of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

Her work as a translator includes the book "Samtaler med min datter om økonomi - en kort historie om kapitalisme" (Conversations with My Daughter About Economy – A Short History of Capitalism) together with the visual artist Hannibal Andersen – published in 2019 by KLIM.

ABOUT SAMARA SALLAM

Samara Sallam is a visual artist, filmmaker, performer, herbal nurse and coder based in Copenhagen.  Through multi-layered narratives she investigates the social, cultural and political intersections of language, identity, body and violence, and how they influence the labels imposed on her.

Some artworks can be interpreted through the concept of interactivity as her objects and installations depend on the viewer to interact by touching, eating or moving the artwork to complete the idea.

Sallam holds a BA from the Funen Art Academy and is currently finishing her MFA at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Furthermore, Sallam has studied visual arts at L’école Supérieure des Beaux-arts in Algeria and journalism at Damascus University in Syria.
