Free Lunch Series :

Ingrid Buffetaut

8 October 2024 12.00 PM - 01.30 PM
Art Hub Copenhagen Halmtorvet 27, 1700 København V

Join us for this special Free Lunch which, in collaboration with the French Institute, presents the French-Chinese artist Ingrid Buffetaut, who is currently part of the traveling Nordic-oriented residency program Septentrionales. Buffetaut will be in conversation with curator and art writer Paola Paleari.

Ingrid Buffetaut will talk about her practice more generally and, in dialogue with Paola Paleari, unfold her project Poste Restante, which she develops during the residency in contact with the people she meets in the various countries she stays in. In addition, the French Institute will talk about the structure of the residency and the thoughts behind the sustainable principles on which the program and thus the artists' course and journey are founded.

Ingrid Buffetaut is a French visual artist and scenographer educated at the École des Arts in Paris. She works at the crossroads between illustration/drawing, installation and scenography. Her projects are often based on interaction with a public, as she is interested in how they will receive, perceive and interact with her ongoing studies and works, which in turn influences her process and the final work.

ABOUT INGRID BUFFETAUT

Ingrid Buffetaut is a scenographer and visual artist educated at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She works with images, volume and space in relational projects involving the audience.

She has gradually expanded her drawing practice to include and invade spaces in immersive installations and scenographies that draw on and engage the public. She is particularly interested in the public and how they use the spaces and objects available.

Her work is fascinated by the mundane, and explores our relationship with the world and our different way of seeing things, always with a focus on the individual and the uniqueness of them. Her goal is to give value to the ordinary, to restore the meaning of the discrete but essential things that surround and shape us.

ABOUT PAOLA PALEARI
Paola Paleari holds a Master’s degree in Design from Politecnico di Milano, followed by a Masterclass in Contemporary Photography at CSF Ansel Adams and a Masterclass in Cultural Heritage & Services Management at Il Sole24Ore Business School. In 2019, she was among Politikens Kunstkritikerskole’s selected participants.

She is a Member of Udvalg for Nye Perpektiver at Akademiraadet, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2021 and 2022 she curated the contemporary art program at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon, and since 2019 she has been a guest lecturer in Photography at DIS Danish International School. She has been running the exhibition platform JIR SANDEL since 2018 and was deputy editor of the Swiss publication YET Magazine from 2013 to 2018.

Paleari is concerned with the intersection between critical and creative writing and often interweave art criticism with other forms of storytelling. She believes that curating is a practice that goes beyond making exhibitions and creates new creative methods to generate, convey and reflect knowledge in a transdisciplinary and transcultural context. As a freelance curator, she has an ongoing “self-educational agenda” that aims towards a more exhaustive definition of her profession and a clearer determination of its needs and actions.
