Join us for Free Lunch on Tuesday 16 April with visual artist Julie Nymann in conversation with the Foreperson of the Dyslexia Association, Gry Kaalund Nicolaisen and PhD student at Roskilde University, Julie Lund Jensen. Based on Nymann's lived experience with dyslexia, the conversation will give an insight into her latest sound installation The advantages of being dyslexic where over 80 people with dyslexia have shared their story in a series of workshops held by Nymann in 2023.
Dyslexia basically means difficulty connecting sounds with letters and vice versa. But that knowledge - and what it means - is often overlooked. Nymann's practice examines how we construct meaning when something is kept outside of consciousness on a historical, political, sensory and cognitive level.
