Tore Hallas

19 March 2024 12.00 PM - 01.30 PM
Art Hub Copenhagen Halmtorvet 27, 1700 København V

Join our Free Lunch on Tuesday 19 March in the company of visual artist Tore Hallas. Hallas has invited Associate Curator at KW Institute for Contemporary Art Sofie Krogh Christensen and curator Rebekka Laugesen to join the lunch and conversation. Together they will present and unfold the themes of his new film YOU ARE CLOSER TO GOD WHEN YOU DO NOT INDULGE. A visual art film based on facts that blends queer erotic imagery with scientific research into the economic consequences of fatness.

Tore Hallas’ new film work is both an explicit and intimate visual study of the discourses that determine which bodies are deemed desirable and worthy of admiration in a sexualised economy. In a stylised tableau, lit like renaissance paintings, the camera examines bodies frozen in embrace and desire.

The film is screened on 15, 17 and 20 March during this year's CPH:DOX. Get your ticket here.

Participation is free, but registration is required. If you wish to participate in the lunch, please register via rsvp@arthubcopenhagen.dk.

ABOUT TORE HALLAS
Tore Hallas is a visual artist who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. Working within themes of fatness and queerness, and fatness as queerness; religious ontologies and intention; as well as photographic and cinematographic reflection as both theme and method. Working primarily with video, photography and text, as well as curatorial work and teaching.

Economic structural and interpersonal oppression, personal narratives, and the intersectionalities of violences and positionalities are undercurrents in his works, along with travelling as both physical displacement and symbolic quest, and the interaction between the world and the othered body and mind.
