Art Pod with Mathias Kryger #12

A large number of artist studio communities in Copenhagen have recently been terminated, and some are living on short contracts that are renewed year by year. The development in the city is massive, and the private equity funds are stepping on each other’s necks to get a hold of the coveted square meters. Where does this leave the artists and the possibility of getting a proper studio? What is the metropolis even for a place if it cannot accommodate working artists? And then also a bit about artists’ fees and whether one actually becomes an artist to avoid ‘working’ in the way that people who are not artists do. Kaspar Bonnén and Maria Zahle are in the studio talking about all the things that have become the exhibition project ‘On Short Contracts’.
