Marianne Torp holds an MA in art history from the University of Copenhagen and Columbia University, New York. She is the Director of Den Frie Udstillingsbygning in Copenhagen and was previously Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at The National Gallery of Denmark and Head of Arts at the New Carlsberg Foundation. Torp was curator of the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1999 and 2015. Member of the Committee for Research in Art and Art History, Novo Nordisk Foundation, 2016-22; Member of the board of Stiftelsen Kunstkritikk, 2017-22; Deputy chairman of the Visual Arts Committee, Norwegian Council of the Arts, 2007-11; long-standing censor at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus as well as the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Fine Arts.
