Rasmus Røhling (DK)

Artist

Program

Rasmus Røhling is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen. He graduated from Jutland Art Academy in 2008 and holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles (2010).

Røhling works primarily in video and sculpture. His recent work deals with the representation of male eccentricity/anxiety throughout art history and how this iconification informs our current understanding of the term “male crisis”.

As part of Art Hub Copenhagen’s Studio Program 2019, a thematic residency titled Life in the Future of Science and Technology, Røhling examined the rise of so-called anxiety-reducing animations for patients within the healthcare sector. He examined how these interface avatars produce a kind of soothing substitute in the absence of the welfare state.
