Vibe Overgaard is a visual artist working with video, text, performance and sculptures.
The overall theme in Overgaard’s work is industry and economy and how global-capitalist destructive conditions are normalized politically, culturally and socially in a western context. Her works deal with the legacy of modernism in the light of her own political context and upbringing marked by the Danish textile industry. Through artistic practice, Vibe Overgaard relates to political and theoretical questions with attention to the bodily, material and aesthetic conditions that anchor capitalism in cultural heritage and everyday life, but which can also give access to new thoughts about presence, social responsibility and sustainable forms of organising.
She has exhibited work at ISCP, New York City, Adagio for Things (Overgaden), Copenhagen Denmark, Kunsthal NORD, Aalborg, Denmark, Floating Projects, Hong Kong, Hotel Maria Kapel, Hoorn, the Netherlands, Odenplan Metro, Stockholm, Sweden among others. She was an ISCP artist-in-residence in 2022 and 2023
