Applications are now open for the AHC Residency for spring and autumn 2027. The deadline is Sunday, 20 September 2026.
AHC Residency is Art Hub Copenhagen’s five-month residency programme focusing on artistic development, knowledge sharing, and professional communities.
The residency offers a monthly fee of DKK 21,000 (including material costs), an individual studio at Thoravej 29, access to AHC’s professional workshops, and a programme of curator meetings, excursions, workshops, and open studios.

WHO CAN APPLY?
The AHC Residency is open to professional visual artists who are either EU/EEA citizens or hold a long-term EU/EEA residence permit. You must hold an MFA or comparable professional experience.
At the start of the residency, you must have completed your education or have worked professionally for a minimum of three years.
It is possible to apply as a duo – but please note that the fee and studio must be shared.
AHC actively works towards an inclusive, diverse, and professionally engaged community, supporting artists with widely differing practices at every stage of their professional development. So we encourage all, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality, to apply for our residency.
You can read about accessibility at Thoravej 29 here and about AHC’s policies here.
If you live outside greater Copenhagen and are unable to be present at AHC on a daily basis, you can apply for our AHC Remote Residency (formerly Residency To Go) programme instead. You can read more about it here. Please note that it is not possible to apply for both residency programmes.
The Open Call for AHC Residency 2028 will be announced on our website and social media in mid-February 2027.

WHO REVIEWS THE APPLICATIONS?
All applications are assessed by a jury consisting of three external artists or curators and two representatives from AHC. The jury for this open call will be announced after the deadline.
In 2025, the jury consisted of Kit Leunbach, Pauline Koffi Vandet, Guston Sondin-Kung, as well as Maibritt Borgen and Marie Braad Larsen from AHC.
Applications are assessed based on:
- The potential, complexity, and engagement of the individual artistic practice.
- The potential for the residency to accelerate the development and complexity of the artistic practice.
- The applicant’s motivation and readiness to undertake the residency.
- The range and diversity of practices and identities among the selected residents.
