Residencies & Workshops

Since 2019, residencies and studio programmes have been a cornerstone of AHC’s mission to support artistic development and production. The programmes provide artists with time, space and a platform to dedicate themselves to research, experimentation, creating new works and building new collaborations and networks. In other words, we seek to offer the best possible professional frameworks for artistic growth, production and communication, aligning with each artist’s unique practice, needs and potential.

Below, you will find our current residency programmes, as well as information on studios and workshops.

Residencies

AHC RESIDENCY

AHC Residency is a five-month residency for professional visual artists, focusing on artistic development, knowledge sharing, and professional communities. The programme includes a studio, a fee, access to AHC’s professional workshops, as well as a programme of meetings, excursions, workshops, and Open Studios.

AHC REMOTE RESIDENCY

AHC Remote Residency is Art Hub Copenhagen’s five-month residency programme for visual artists living and working in Denmark outside the capital. Like our AHC Residency, AHC Remote Residency focuses on artistic development, knowledge sharing, and professional communities. It especially caters to visual artists who do not have the opportunity to work from AHC at Thoravej 29 on a daily basis.

EXCHANGE RESIDENCY

Exchange Residency: Copenhagen-Munich is an annual three-month residency at Villa Waldberta in Munich for one professional visual artist, focusing on artistic development, knowledge sharing, and professional networking. The Exchange Residency takes place in the historic building Villa Waldberta by Lake Starnberg in a panoramic area about 40 kilometers south of Munich City center.

Wintanworks is an artist-in-residence and an exchange programme developed in collaboration between Art Hub Copenhagen (AHC) in Denmark and the artist and curator collective blaxTARLINES KUMASI in Ghana. Each year, Wintanworks invites two visual artists – one based in Denmark and one based in Ghana – to ‘swap’ locations for two months, each of them thereby spending time in another art scene and another cultural environment.

FLANDERS

In collaboration with the Institute for Culture, Youth and Media in Flanders, AHC invites a Flemish artist to participate in a residency in Copenhagen each year. The residency fosters exchange between the Danish and Flemish art scenes, including network development and opportunities for further exchange between the Flemish artist and the artists and curators already affiliated with AHC.
